Q1. How is handmade paper different from ordinary paper?

A1.The paper most of us use is produced in mills using wood pulp from freshly cut trees. This process not only destroys millions of trees each year, but pollutes the environment by creating industrial waste from factories and consumer waste from paper products. Reducing the amount of paper we use, reusing paper when possible and recycling paper products are all responsible ways to minimize damage to the environment. Using handmade papers and paper products – which are wood-free, biodegradable and made almost entirely of cotton – is a truly eco-friendly choice.

Q2. What are the papers and products made from?

A2. Our handmade papers are almost all made from cotton scraps discarded by clothing factories. Through a centuries-old process, the cotton is mixed with vegetable dyes, bits of plants or flower petals, threads or any number of natural additives. In addition, the papers can be sculpted during the drying process to assume many unusual textures and appearances, such as leather, coral, embossed patterns, marble and others that almost defy description. Use of plastics in picture frames, lampshades and packaging are kept to a bare minimum, and any wood or wooden embellishments used are taken from wood scraps, fallen twigs or the bark of regenerating trees and bushes (such as bamboo plants and mulberry bushes).

Q3. Can handmade paper be used in office equipment or offset printing?

A3. Handmade papers with smooth textures can be used for offset printing and for use in fax machines, laser printers and copiers. For clarification regarding a specific paper you’d like to use, just email us at info@oneworldpaper.com.

Q4. Is handmade paper acid-free?

A4. Handmade paper itself is acid-free. However, some of the natural additives used, or exposure to sun during drying, may make the pH slightly acidic.

Q5. What if I have a problem while placing an order online

A5. If you have trouble with your order, please send an email to customerservice@oneworldpaper.com or call us toll-free at 1-877-820-1516 (M-F 10-7 CST), and we will assist you in completing your online purchase.

Q6. Can I make changes to my order after it's been submitted?

A6. We will change or cancel an order at your request, although we cannot do so once it has shipped. Return information is included with each package. If you would like us to cancel or change an order, please send an email to customerservice@oneworldpaper.com and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Q7. If my selection is "backordered," what happens?

A7. Occasionally, a product is more popular than we anticipated and we temporarily run out of stock. When that happens, we will immediately notify you via email with the anticipated shipping date. Most items that are backordered are expected to arrive at our warehouses within 30 days. We ship all ordered items as they become available, so if you have ordered more than one item and any of those items is on backorder, you will receive multiple shipments. Your credit card will not be charged for an item until that item is shipped.

Q8. How do I check the status of my order or contact you if I have a question about my order?

A8. If you have any questions about your order, including order status, email us at customerservice@oneworldpaper.com. Please include your name, address, and order confirmation number with your question so we may assist you as quickly as possible.

Q9. When will I receive my order?  

A9. Most in-stock items are shipped within 24 hours of receipt of your order via standard ground service. For in-stock items delivered within the continental United States, you should expect to receive your order within 5-10 days. Please allow additional time for personalized items or custom orders.

A10. Shipping charges for U.S.place-country-region- orders will be calculated automatically when you proceed to the checkout on our site.

Q11.Can I ship items to more than one address when placing my order online?

A11. We are happy to ship items to more than one address, but unfortunately we cannot do so online within a single order at this time. If you would like to place an order with multiple delivery addresses, you can enter separate orders on our web site, or call us toll-free at 1-877-820-1516 (M-F 10-7 CST). We regret any inconvenience and promise to make this easier in the future.

Q12. Do you ship internationally?  

A12. We ship purchases to any destination serviced by Federal Express. Because international shipping charges are based upon weight, dimensions and final destination, we calculate the cost upon receipt of your order. When you place your order online, shipping charges will be displayed for your order, but since our system automatically calculates shipping for U.S.orders, please disregard this amount. We will immediately notify you via email of the final cost and ship the order only upon receiving your acceptance of the cost. RETURNS AND EXCHANGES

Q13. What if I want to return my order?

A13. No problem! We value our customers and are committed to your satisfaction. If, for any reason, your purchase does not meet your expectations, please return it in its original, new condition within 30 days for an exchange or refund. Please note that shipping and gift wrapping costs are non-refundable.

Your feedback is important to us, so please let us know the reason for your return in the space provided on the receipt. Place the sales receipt inside a secure package and ship it prepaid and insured to the address below. For your convenience, a return shipping label is included with your receipt.

Q14. How do I exchange an item I purchased?  

A14. Easy! Just fill out the exchange form on the packing slip and send it back to us with your return merchandise. If the amount for the replacement item (less shipping and handling) is different than the amount of your original purchase, you will be refunded or charged the difference.

 Q15. How do I return or exchange a gift bought for me?

A15. Fill out the exchange form on the back of your packing slip and include it when sending your return or exchange merchandise. If you're not exchanging the item immediately, we will send you a gift certificate for the dollar amount of the item you're returning. If you are exchanging the item and the amount for the replacement merchandise exceeds the cost of the return item, you will be charged the difference (excluding shipping and handling charges). If you don’t know the price of the item you are returning, you can search for the item number it on our site or email us at customerservice@oneworldpaper.com.

 Q16. I lost my packing slip. How do I return my purchase? 

A16. If you've lost your packing slip, email us at customerservice@oneworldpaper.com. We’ll give you the information you need to include with your return, including your order number. Ship your return merchandise to the address above in a secure, prepaid and insured package. Please consider insuring your return shipment, since, unfortunately, we can’t give credit for items that we don’t receive.

Q17. What do I do if I received the wrong item or my order was damaged in transit?    

A17. Email us at customerservice@oneworldpaper.com with your order number, name, address and details on the item you ordered and the item you received. If the requested item is in stock, we will ship it to you immediately. Your credit card will be charged for the second shipment, but you will be credited for the return upon receipt. We will assist you in returning the original shipment for a full refund, including shipping charges.

Q18. How long does it take to get my refund?    

A18. We process refunds as soon as we receive returned merchandise. If you placed your order with a credit card, the credit will be posted to your credit card account the day we process your return.
